Here's the JULY 2026 Doodlewash RoundUP!Hello and Welcome Back to A Time to Play, a place where we celebrate Playtime as adults expressing our creativity every day and have FUN in the process! Playtime is really essential to our well being, isn't it? So, for this post, I continue my tradition of sharing my daily art challenge journey with my Doodlewash RoundUP and this one is for July 2026. Now this month of July was a bit more of a challenge as far as prompts go. The list provided by World Watercolor Group who hosted July was very subjective with very open ended prompts. My preference is more Objective where there are specific objects such as food, nature, and things to render. So I decided to create my own July list, which was harder than I thought it would be! I did put the word out to my online community, asking for their ideas of what I could render for the month. And I deeply appreciate those who contributed: both of my daughters and my Facebook friends, Shannan and Jeremy. So, a shout out to them for their contribution! The rest of the list came from varying subjects around my house and also reference material I had stashed in my art studio! July 2026 Doodlewash Prompt List: Chocolate chip mint ice cream, overalls, elephant, American Flag, Daisy, pencil sharpener, binder clip, push pin, blueberry. Here's a review of what was most difficult, what my favorites were and which ones were popular to viewers online! The most challenging ones for me: the elephant was a decorative figure which required a lot of line work due to the consistency of the matter it was made of. Another tough one was the pencil sharpener due to the angle and geometry! The wood bracelet was also a challenge due to angle and size of the varying pieces. The chocolate chip cookie and sourdough bread were also challenging since they required a lot of heavy pen work and fine detail in order to present its texture properly. July 2026 Doodlewash Prompt List: Barbie Doll, stapler, scrunchie, Pinolith stone, denim hat, mini clip, wood bracelet, nylon sock, cloth napkin. Ok, now for my favorites! One of the things I love to draw is Texture, and one of the quickest ways to find it is with textiles and fabric in general. So, many of the subjects I chose for this list were related to that category, such as a washcloth, fabric napkin, a nylon sock with all the folds. Also, the scrunchie, and the denim hat. All textures I love. Now for the most popular (many views!) from online friends: The one that comes out on top was the sashed skirt! YEP! Love me some fashion! Fashion illustration has Always been a LOVE of mine as an artist, so this was pure joy to draw. The texture of the fringe was challenging with lots of line work, but it was fun to do. I would say that the push pin was the other contender for most popular. I think the simplicity of the design with only shadow for shading, the rest just line work, was the draw. I love picking out the shapes and shadows with light line work; it's so much fun to do! July 2026 Doodlewash Prompt List: washcloth, kitchen scissors, weather vein, sashed skirt, striped chair, chocolate chip cookie, biscuit, twine, sourdough bread, child's sneaker, leather glove, sunflower, handbag. I would say the others with more views were the sunflower (no shading, just contour and detail lines) and the handbag with shading being mentioned by commenters. Yay! I always appreciate feedback from those who love my work; it is very motivating for an artist to see the love! July 2026 Doodlewash Prompt list: child's sneaker, leather glove, sunflower, handbag. So, there you have it! All my July 2026 daily drawings all in one place! Which one is your favorite?
