​Art Journal Jam with Gesso!

Hello and welcome back to A Time to Play, which is my fun playground of sharing with you how I engage in play in my daily experience and with the intention of giving you inspiration for your own playtime! 

For this post, I am sharing from my Art Journal practice which I have not done in quite some time here on my blog due to a move back in May of this year. I started this particular spread early in the year (January 2025?) at my previous residence. I've done a few layers already since I moved and decided to add a layer of gesso going forward. 

I decided to turn on the camera and share my activity with you! I talk about art journaling in general and why I love gesso and how I use it. 

I'm excited with sharing my journaling practice with you with the delight of inspiring you in your own playtime! Art journaling is not something I do all the time, like my sketching and illustrating. I dip into it when I get a moment to do so. Art Journaling is often messy, which is the way I like it, so I don't get my hands dirty as often as I would like. 

My aim is to dive more frequently into this fun media as we head into colder temps and spend more time doing cozy activities! 

Let me know what you think of what I share in the video. The camera is off to the side so you can see the majority of my art studio space rather than overhead directly showing the pages I'm working on. With messy hair and messy hands, let's get to it! ENJOY !
